Resilience and Vibrancy: Hong Kong, Malaysia and the ASEAN (By invitation only)
Marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Hong Kong and Malaysian Governments (Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office of the HKSAR Government and Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia), along with the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) to co-organise a high-level business conference entitled "Resilience and Vibrancy: Hong Kong, Malaysia and the ASEAN"
The business conference aims to highlight Hong Kong's inherent competitive edges and new opportunities arising from recent major developments and initiatives, including the ASEAN - Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement (AHKFTA), the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development (GBA), and elucidate the relevance of such to Malaysia and the greater ASEAN region. It is also part of the ongoing efforts of both sides to join hands to capture business opportunities and enhance the people-to-people bond, particularly under the "new normal" in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Intending to deepen mutual market understanding and access between Hong Kong and Malaysia, the business conference aims to look into the latest development and initiatives buttressing Hong Kong's role as an international financial hub. Hong Kong - the city's competitive edges in the fintech and asset management arenas with opportunities arising from AHKFTA, BRI and GBA, as well as benefits that Hong Kong can offer to Malaysian enterprises in the country's endeavour to spur economic development in the post-pandemic era.
As for the panel discussion with the theme of "Emerging Stronger with Closer Collaboration and Partnership", the moderator will invite panellists to share, based on their areas of expertise, (i) Hong Kong as a significant platform of capital raising and financing for projects and investments in Malaysia and beyond; and (ii) the huge market potential of Malaysia and the tremendous business and investment opportunities in the region buoyed by major development initiatives such as AHKFTA, BRI and GBA.
