Hong Kong, 7 April 2025 — The Hong Kong Academy for Wealth Legacy (HKAWL), in collaboration with Chartwell Family Partners, has gifted the “Legacy Reflection Pool” to be displayed at the historic Ex-Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir (Ex-SSPSR), as a tribute to the Hong Kong’s cultural heritage and to inspire all to celebrate the richness of city’s legacy and innovate for our collective future.
On 27 March 2025, HKAWL hosted a private reception, “Legacy Escapade”, in collaboration with Chartwell Family Partners, bringing together the city’s leading family principals, next-generation asset owners and international guests visiting Hong Kong for the Wealth & Investment Mega Event Week. Designed to highlight Hong Kong’s rich diversity beyond its metropolis allure, the event offered guests a rare, unexpected discovery of a century-old, Romanesque underground reservoir built in 1904.
At the heart of the experience was the appreciation of the “Legacy Reflection Pool”, a creation by artists Mrs Sacha Yasumoto and Mr Calvin Ching, commissioned exclusively for “Legacy Escapade”. The pool honours the waters that/ once flowed through the reservoir, evoking the reverence ancient Romans held for water, not only as a necessity of life, but also as a source of beauty.
“As the Academy sets out to convene, equip, and mobilize wealth principals and next-gens around the world, we want to send a clear message about legacy: to be remembered, to be celebrated, and to be evolved. We are leading the charge for legacy evolution, for individuals, for families, for our communities, right here in Hong Kong,” said Ms Angel Chia, Executive Director of HKAWL.
“Chartwell Family Partners is truly honoured to support this historic site, and we hope that more local and international visitors will experience Hong Kong’s unique cultural heritage in the years to come,” said Mr Ronald Chan, Co-Founder of Chartwell Family Partners.
Mrs Sacha Yasumoto, Founder of Dangerous Dinners and Co-creator of the Legacy Reflection Pool, added: “The beauty of Hong Kong with its multi-cultural folds, is the chief opportunity in which we shall chart our future. A thriving creative economy encourages social discourse towards harmony among all. We should all invest boldly in this ecosystem to drive growth and innovation, and to position Hong Kong as the epicentre of cultural transformation.”
