Impact investments is garnering much attention recently and it has now become an integral part of investments with the intention to generate positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. To raise the awareness of Impact Investing, Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) and Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) had co-organized the Impact Investing Roundtable. It is an exclusive event for large asset owners and by-invitation only. The purpose of this roundtable is to introduce the findings of the research to senior leaders and global asset owners in Hong Kong and what these strategies mean for asset owners in Hong Kong and for Hong Kong as a financial center. Hong Kong being an important financial centre has already initiated a numbers of initiatives related to ESG and sustainable investment. We believe this fruitful and constructive discussion will support Hong Kong’s journey into sustainable finance by identifying possible areas that Hong Kong could develop to strengthen its role and positioning as centre of excellence in green and sustainable finance.
The participants of the roundtable had a closed-door discussion on,
• The burgeoning field of impact investing
• The role of the investor in driving the Impact agenda in Hong Kong.
• The opportunity for Hong Kong as a financial center to build competency and a supporting ecosystem in this area.
