Technology advancement is altering the landscape of different frontiers in finance. The dynamics as a result of such changes provides a fertile ground for the emergence of new business behaviours which necessitate creative strategies and innovative thinking in getting things done. Among these developments are "LegalTech" which combines legal services with technology to distribute legal advice in a more effective and efficient manner; and "RegTech" which puts together regulatory activities and technology to streamline complex risk management processes. At a virtual seminar co-organised by the FSDC and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, speakers demystified LegalTech and RegTech, sharing how these new trends have been revolutionising the traditional financial markets.
The speakers encouraged students to focus on skills and areas that computers cannot take over and try to build value out of it. In their opinion, technological transformation is relevant to all disciplines. They also stressed on the importance of being pragmatic and humble for one to be professionally successful.
