FSDC Industry Exchange Series – Navigating the evolving sustainable landscape: Hong Kong's crucial role in financing the transition to sustainability
As the urgency of climate action mounts globally, the critical role of sustainable finance in enabling further economic development has come to the fore. Valued at US$150 trillion through 2050, the low-carbon transition presents a momentous investment opportunity.
While progress has been made, gaps persist between traditional economic activities and sustainable finance landscapes. This highlights the need for greater collaboration to create an inclusive financial system. Transition finance has rapidly gained traction globally as a crucial bridge between these spheres. By providing innovative tools and mechanisms specifically targeted to high-emitting sectors, transition finance enables a gradual yet meaningful shift toward greater sustainability.1
With its strength as an international finance hub, Hong Kong is strategically positioned to capitalise on transition finance opportunities and propel its growth as a regional leader. To advance this vision, the FSDC formed a Working Group to develop strategic guidance and policy recommendations aimed at accelerating Hong Kong’s transition finance capabilities.
You are cordially invited to an Industry Exchange Series webinar, where we delve deeper into the insights gleaned from the paper. Our distinguished speakers will explore ways Hong Kong can lead in transition finance and deliver climate impact.
